One of those other themes is the culture clash that exists between father and son. In addition to an inescapable generational divide, the two also clash over cultural divides pitting traditionalism versus modernity and western civilization versus Indian. It is through the perceptual divide of father and son that these culture clashes are viewed which makes them more immediately visceral as obstacles to father and son bonding.
