Who wrote Holmes the encoded message about Birlstone Manor?

Its a short answer but pretty obvious, you can also get the answer in act 1 in beginning.. but it was proffessor Moriarity who had written it to him, he was the evil mind behind all the bad things which were happening in valley of fear/ vermissa valley but holmes didnt tell anyone so Moriarity doesnt call him a traitor.
