why is chapter 3 called spin?

From the text:

"On occasions the war was like a PingPong ball. You could put a fancy spin on it, you could make it dance."

This quote signifies how at times the men didn't actually feel like they were at war, that at times they actually had a bit of fun, did silly things, or just found time to relax......
