I love this novel as a supplemental novel for American history. O'Brien is a great story teller, and I enjoyed reading my through as the story unfolded. As I already said, the book would be supplemental. First person accounts are just that, and every soldier whatever their place in the armed forces will see the same experience in a different light.

O'Brien neglects to provide contrasting viewpoints, but that doesn't really matter. To provide us an overview wasn't his intent with this. It is a labor of love more than anything else. I loved it!
