Based on your analysis of the book, why has Kate been so shrewish?

Kate's shrewish behavior is the result of many different things. She is jealous of her sister (Bianca gets more attention from dad); she doesn't feel attractive; thinks she is going to be an old maid, and despises the way men treat her. The worse the treatment, the more shrewish she becomes.
