People generally enjoy fantasy myth stories involving magic, magicians, swords, knights.... Unlike traditional Arthurian legends, White's story of the young Arthur contains very few war scenes and rather a large number of scenes that teach Wart how to avoid war. He also learns much from the animal kingdom about how to maintain a civilized society without the need for brutality or combat.
