Was Andy wearing Norton's suit under his prison uniform when he escaped?

Andy was seen going through Norton's suits the night before he escaped.

Andy shined Norton's shoes and wore them back to his cell. If he wore them in his escape, would not they have been ruined, or at least full of mud and dirty again?
