In real life, Walter is somewhat meek, boring, and easily directed by his wife. For the most part.... she's in control. In Walter's daydreams, he is brave, daring, brilliant, and completely in charge.

Walter Mitty is a regular guy, plain and simple. But in his daydreams he is his polar oppisite. He dreams of exellence, triumph, skill, talent and aptitude. In reality he is much more cowardly than in his vivid imagination.
