Why does Marguerite not confide in her husband and tell him what she is facing?

This is on chapter 12 I believe. It could be 13

In these specific chapters, Marguerite believes that she cannot confide in her husband because she sees him as completely useless. As a result, she believes she must deal with the situation alone.
