What i s the conflict in the story?

The main conflict in the book is the struggle to smuggle various French nobility (including women and children) into England away from the French Revolution. The Scarlet Pimpernel is the secret crusader who facilitates this. Part of the conflict involves keeping the young son of Louis XVI alive and getting him to London.
