Why does hester call her daughter Pearl?

Pearl is the only visible manifestation of something she did right. Ironically her "sin" resulted in her Pearl. Pearl is a free spirit and beautiful, the opposite of Puritan ideology. Hester payed a heavy price for her one treasure in life.
