The Scarlet Letter

What do you think Chillingworth sees wrong with Dimmesdale's heart?

Is it guilt? Cowardice? I don't understand.

It just confirms what Chillingworth has suspected. Dimmesdale was indeed the lover of Hester and is also Pearl's father. Chillingworth feels vindicated for his torture of the young priest.
