11. Why do the townspeople think that Pearl should be taken away?

Pearl was born out of "sin". Hester refuses to give up the name of the father. Also Pearl is a free spirit. Unlike other Puritan children, she laughs, runs and sings. Pearl is a happy child. The Puritans think this is unholy.
