Director's Influence on The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Director's Influence on The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Jim Sharman is known for his many directorial projects, including The Rocky Horror Picture Show. He is an Australian director and writer who has been involved with productions over his long career.

Sharman himself wrote the screenplay for The Rocky Horror Picture Show, meaning his influence over the production is remarkable. The film was based on a 1973 stage production and functions as a parody of science fiction and horror movies from the first half of the 20th century.

Sharman had a key role in everything from writing, to casting and production. He worked with actors such as Tim Curry to transform his vision into reality, and to ensure that the humor of the original stage production was felt in the film. Actor and writer Richard O'Brien was also involved, having written the musical stage show in 1973.
