Who was more of a burden in the father/son dynamic and why?

In my opinnion, neither the father or son was a burden. The father kept his will to live for his son, the boy was an object of love..... not a burden. On the flip side, the boy would not have survived without his father's guidance and love. Both characters give equally.... both love equally.
