Why does the son apologize for what he had said about the dead in the road?
As far as I can tell, the boy only says "Oh Papa” when he sees the burned infant. The Boy apologizes but the father does not know what the boy is apologizing for. I thionk the boy is really a Christ-figure who feels empathy for the dead and suffering.
