when does the youth come to realize he is committed to the regiment

How does he feel ,at what point

The youth finally feels himself a part of the regiment and realizes that he is committed to them when Wilson and the others welcome him back after the battle. It is at this point we no longer hear Wilson referred to as the "loud soldier" but rather a friend.
