Red Chief (Johnny Dorset)

The title character is actually just the Indian name that 10-year-old Johnny Dorset takes on as part of his play. Two men arrive in his small Alabama town and target his well-to-do dad for a kidnapping. What neither knows is that Red Chief is a perfectly appropriate name for the kid whose genetic mean streak takes him well past the point of mischief.
