Identify a twist or turn that happened that you didn't expect?

I've always found it interesting that when Orleanna returned to Africa with her daughters, her home was unknown...... as if it had never been. It seemed that the disappearance of Kilnaga had taken away her past and made it seem as if it weren't worth remembering..... like it made her life and memories a lie.
