An Elegy on the death of HM QUEEN ELIZABETH, THE QUEEN MOTHER:

In this poem, Andrew Motion's narrator is lamenting the death of Queen Elizabeth and reflecting on what it means for the people, his country, and Britain's place in history as a result. He is also mourning the Queen and all the good she did for the country.

Ice:

In this poem, Motion describes a narrator who has taken a trip north with his friends to sail the Scotia Sea. The narrator describes the dangers of the north and the cold, insisting that they press on regardless, and describes the beauty and the danger of the journey,

The Last Call:

This is a short, humorous poem about a man who is dying and tries to think about his situation in a funny, more positive light. Unfortunately for the man, death gets him in the end.

Diving:

In this poem, the narrator describes the way diving in the ocean makes him feel free and alive. He describes some of the beautiful phenomena he encounters and says that diving makes him feel like the rest of the world doesn't matter.

A Glass of Wine:

In this poem, Motion begins with describing the sunset and narrows down to smaller and smaller objects until he has condensed the scope of the poem to a glass of wine the narrator is offering someone.
