bear the burden of beauty - alliteration - sound device; shows how he is under the weight of being beautiful on the outside, but not good looking on the inside or on the portrait.

The second one simply uses descriptive language which is very specific and shows, rather than tells, what is beautiful in what he does, even though he is not a good person. The fact that he is smoking opium shows a weakness in his character.
