the whites such as the doctor reguarded the natives as animals and beneath him. They were not worth his time or engery because they had money. But once Kino found the Pearl of the world, the doctor said that he dropped all other patients to care for coyoitio. Which he really did not try to help him only make him worse for his own benefit.
