What practical and emotional impact does the destruction of kino's boat and house have on his family? What might be the reasoning that prompts such an attack

Both the boat and the house/hut define Kino as a man and a provider. The Pearl merely defines him as lucky. The destruction of his boat and home cut him off from his former identity, it is an identity that meant peace and the "song of the family". Now Kino is left with this Pearl that is turning out to be more of a curse than a gift.
