Is it right for Juana Tomas to protect Kino from the law after he committed murder?

I think there is the bond of family as well as Juan Thomas's belief that Kino was protecting himself that makes sense. Juan Thomas is a wise man and loyal to family. He knows Kino and his family will be killed without shelter.
