What money-making scheme did Sam and his friends come up with? How did it turn out?

I read this book two times in all honesty, but I still don't understand. I have so many questions that need to be answered for me to understand. I'm very confused. I don't tend to catch onto things really.

Sam and his friends decided that robbing drug dealers would be a quick way to make money. After a few successful robberies, the boys were caught and arrested by the police. Sam spent four weeks in juvenile detention, after which, he was released. The judge had given him a big break..... and Sam decided he would give whatever it took to becoming a legitimate success.
