Explain who the socs and greasers are?

These are two social groups in the city. The Socs come from upper middle class homes. To Ponyboy, the Socs seem to have everything. The Greasers are from poorer families Ponyboy and his family/friends are Greasers.. They are considered hooligans buy much of the population. They frequently fight with the Socs.
