Ponyboy describes the Socs and the Greasers. The Socs are wealthy, from the other side of town and drive nice cars. The Greasers are very different. They have long hair, dress differently, and most of them come from broken homes. The Greasers also come from the less affluent part of town. Whereas, the Socs have no lack of money.... the Greaser families struggle financially.
