Darry is the oldest brother in the family. He takes on the guardianship role after their parents die in a car accident. Darry works hard to take care of his family. He worries about keeping them together. The state constantly threatens to split the family up if Pony or Soda get into trouble. Darry loves his brothers. Despite confrontation with Ponyboy: they all love each other.
