Exposition, Rising Actions, Climax, Falling Action, Resolution
Exposition - Poker Flat is declining in its morals. The people want to get rid of the bad influences.
Rising Action - People are exiled from the town , stop to rest in the woods, and hide in a cabin after meeting two fleeing lovers.
Climax - Uncle Billy steals the mules and horses. The others are stranded in a horrible snow storm.
Falling Action - the characters make different decisions about how they will end their lives.
Resolution - the sheriff comes and finds the body of the Duchess and Piney in a restful embrace, dead. John Oakhurst has committed suicide. As it turns out, all of the "bad influences" were good except for Uncle Billy and did not deserve to be exiled.
