A person who genuinely believes that everything will ultimately work out in a positive way.

reticent

Discreet, restrained and tight-lipped; uncommunicative.

benevolent

Inoffensive, generous, kind-hearted and compassionate.

aghast

Stricken with terror and taken aback with the shock of a horrific surprise.

wizened

Shriveled and wrinkled almost to the point of resembling an unwrapped mummy.

saturnine

Given to prolong periods of being down in the dumps; morose and disconsolate.

compunction

The slowly building crescendo of guilty feelings that ultimately lead to remose and the desire to confess and seek forgiveness.

opalescent

The exhibition of a milky array of various colors.

minx

A coquettish, coy and flirtatious woman

impugn

To call into the question or cast aspersions.

vivacity

An enthusiastically cheerful sort of gusto for live.

disparage

To criticize in a way that impugns the very character of the object of the critique.

veneer

The shiny outward appearance on the surface capable of concealing or masking a rotting beneath.

trudge

To traipse, lumber or plod along; a laborious manner of walking.

yonder

Somewhere off in the direction pointed to when this word is used to give vague directions on how to get somewhere specific.

apprise

A fomal mode of briefing, notifying or advising someone.

dusky

A twilightish sort of shadowy darkness reminiscent of the appearance of dusk.

effigy

A crudely-made replica of a person to be used for hanging or burning as a form of protest against that person or their actions.
