How does Munro creates an atmosphere of supernatural and sinister in the story?

Munro uses Vera's vivid imagination to create a story of death and delusion.... the deaths themeselves are seem supernatural, as the men perished in the bog. The aunt waiting in the window also provided a hint of the supernatural.
