Although the young fisherman makes fun of santiago he is not angry with them. What does this reveal about him? Why do you suppose the old man dont make fun of him?

Santiago doesn't need to prove himself to the young fishermen. They make fun of him, and he shrugs it off... he's been young and arrogant, now he's mature....
