A women makes a man weak more than encouraging him.. so HemingWay didnot presented a women as a life partner or a friend or someone else... he also declared that even Santago himself turned his wife's photograph upside down because he always felt sad by looking at her photograph.That's why he didn't mentioned a women character in this novella.
