The Odyssey

gods intervention

Should the gods have NOT intervened at the end of the story and brought peace? What other course of action could have taken place and why?

The gods intervention brought peace and avoided what could have been destruction. In a story like this, we expect the gods to become involved, so yes, the gods should have intervened. Had they not, Odysseus' land might have been destroyed, his wife may have been forced into marriage, and their son may have been killed in a bout for power.
