In the beginning of the story, the dialogue between the two men very clearly illustrates Rainsford's feelings about hunting. He finds the sport to be exhilarating, and he believes the animals have no awareness whatsoever of what is happening.... they have no fear. The mood is relaxed.... friendly. This introduction reveals Rainsfords thoughts and opinions..... things that will change greatly over the course of the story.
