The Monkey's Paw

The narrator never directly tells us Mr. White’s third wish in “The Monkey’s Paw,” but the story’s events suggest the answer. What is Mr. White’s third wish? How did you come to that conclusion?

From the text, we can infer that Mr. White's final wish was to make the knocking stop.... to make whoever was at the door go away. We can also infer that Mr. White believes the knocking at the door is caused by his dead son.... and we know that this is what Mrs. White believes, as it would be the answer to her own wish (the second).
