What signs of neglect are visible in Gregor's vicinity?

In Chapter Three, we learn that Grete doesn't bother to pick out Gregor's food any more and cleans his room very hastily and poorly. Soon, Gregor's room becomes a storage area for junk. The family takes on three lodgers who bring their own furnishings, so everything that isn't needed is tossed into Gregor's room. He finds that he has little space to move and enjoys shifting the garbage around.
