what is gregors role in his family? why does he have so much responibility? how is his role about to change?

Gregor is the main bread winner in the familly. His family basically lives off his wages. His father and mother just choose to be lazy about bringing in money. When Gregor becomes an insect, his father is foorced to go out and work. His sister works too. This brings about a new sense of self respect to the family and they feel like they need Gregor less and less.
