A euphemism is the substitution of a mild, indirect, or vague expression for one thought to be offensive, harsh, or blunt.
Once Gregor turns into a bug, he is no longer referred to a Gregor rather than the euphemism "it". After he is dead, he is also referred to the "stuff next door."
