Written in 1912 and published in 1915, The Metamorphosis is one of the few works by Franz Kafka to appear in print during the author’s lifetime. Now arguably Kafka’s best-known work, and one of the most acclaimed works of 20th-century English fiction, The Metamorphosis was first circulated in an avant-garde German-language literary magazine before it was released as a standalone publication.
