The Caged Goldfinch- Both Henchard and the bird lived in a prison and died because of neglect. The Finch's prison was literal, the cage, and Henchard's prison was his personality and the life he had lead. 

 

The Wagon Crash- symbolizes the conflict between Henchard and Farfrae.
