How do we know Mrs. Newson has changed her mind about contacting Henchard?

Mrs Newson changed her mind as she got the news that the sailor had been lost in the sea so now her financial support was all gone so she had the idea that her friend told that the sailor was not her husband because the sail was illegal so she had a thought that Henchard is still her husband. She started to find Henchard so that Elizabeth-Jane could study further and they could get some support . So that's why Susan decided to change her mind and had a plan to find some help from her husband Henchard.
