The Marrow Thieves "Reflection"

What can a novel about an undesirable future tell us or emphasize for us about the world we live in today?

Dystopia type literature are meant to reflect the realities of today. Whether it is Suzanne Collins's The Hunger Games or James Dashner's The Maze Runner, the narratives have similarities with today's life. Some sort of environmental catastrophe combined with socio-political catastrophe is usually involved. The Marrow Thieves is no different. A corrupt government that sanctions exploitation of certain groups is at the heart of The Marrow Thieves just as in The Hunger Games. We can consider many governments around the world, and perhaps our own, who do this. Many people might argue that indigenous peoples are still exploited by governments in places like Canada and the United States.
