In Virginia Woolf’s short story “The Mark On The Wall” the speaker gets up when she and her husband (not clearly mentioned) had just finished their tea and smoking a cigarette, the narrator looked up and saw the mark on the wall for the first time. The speaker also says that it was the middle of January in the present year.
