What made Abigail drift away from her family?

“In the next photo, the mask was almost, but not quite, in place and the final photo, where my father was leaning slightly down to giver her a kiss on the cheek - there it was” (240). After reading this part of the book, do you think it was Abigail’s responsibilities as a mother or as a wife that made her drift away from her family? - AK

Suzie notes that her mother merely appeared to relish the life of domesticity. In reality she rebelled against it and looked for identity outside the family.
