How do people in the town feel about the lottery? How do you know?

The villagers feel that the lottery is just an ancient custom/ tradition of their people. The accept it because they feel they have no other choice and refuse to look at what this ritual performs, and that would be murder. They can't look at wither the sacrifice or themselves to closely without admitting that they too are murderers.
