Ichabod is less courageous than Brom. Why?

Brom is the twon hero. He's big, strong, brave, and a skilled horseman. In contrast, Ichabod is intelligent, but he doesn't have much going in the hero department. In the end, Ichabod is scared away by a legend, which might well have been Brom himself. Ichabod never had a chance.
