Where does Jurgis now have a job opportunity? How far away is it?

When Elzbieta finishes the story, the "settlement worker" gives her a letter and tells her to send Jurgis to the steel mills in South Chicago and that a man there will give him a job. The steel mills are fifteen miles away, so Jurgis must once again take two trains and pay two fares to get to work.
