what do you think about jurgis' motto?

Jurgis's motto, his answer to every setback is "I will work harder." His attitude is commendable but there is only so "hard" a man can work. These people were taken advantage off and cheated in the worst ways. It is sad to see Jurgis work so hard in futility.
