How are the working conditions, long hours with low wages, and slave labor help to lend with Sinclair's argument for Socialism?

when is slave labor mentioned in this novel? would you include when the put the bad food in with the good food with the working conditions?

Socialism promises a better working life for the people. The economy isn't run by corporations who rely on profit and greed. The industry is run by the people and for the people. Of course no government is without flaws though.
